Barrels of Dead flies are Brought to Morgues; Campaign ends Monday.
Big Rush Expected Before close of Fly Polls-Many children of city enthusiastically engaged in swatting flies and in setting traps to catch pests - Flies should not be kept long after catching as to do so may spread disease.
The anti-fly campaign of the civics department of the Woman's Club which has been in progress for a week will close at five o'clock Saturday night. It was announced yesterday afternoon.
Up to the closing time of the various fly stations late evening several barrels of dead flies had been brought in by the contestants. Thousands of flies have been "swatted" or caught in traps by the many children who are contesting for the prizes. Most enthusiasm is being exhibited in the Twentieth St. section, in charge of which is Miss Mary Burke. There are thirteen children competing for the prizes here, a number of these representing teams of two or more boys or girls who are working together.
It is believed by those promoting the campaign that there will be a big rush between now and Saturday night and that one the few days remaining before the close of the campaign the various stations will be swamped by dead flies. Some of the contestant are holding back to make a big showing. Stations have been established as follows. First district, Guyandotte. Idle Hour Theater, Mrs. Brooks being in charge. Second district, Twentieth Street section. "It" Theater, Miss Mary Burks. Third district, Eight Avenue Section. Holland's Drug Store, Mrs. Schuyler Humphreys. Fourth district, Placade theater. Mrs. George Kellar. Fifth district, home of Mrs. John McClintock, 1231 Fifth Avenue. Sixth district, home of Mrs. J. H. Strickling, 430 Sixth Avenue. Seventh Station, at the home of Mrs. J. H. LeBlan at 1235 Eighth Street. Eighth Station, Sliger's garage at 7th Street and Washington Avenue. Mrs. McClintock and Mrs. Gilman.
