At Our Next Meeting

September 21, 2010

KYOWVA Annual Picnic, 6 p.m., place to be announced. There will be no regular meetings during the months of July or August. However, our library will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month for research. Please visit us at the KYOWVA Library Room, Second Presbyterian Church, 901 Jefferson Avenue, Huntington, West Virginia. All members and the general public are welcome.

Our library and offices are open 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday and on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Sunday hours are available by appointment only. Click here for information and directions to KYOWVA.

Lineage Societies

Persons who are active members of the KYOWVA Genealogical and Historical Society may apply for membership in any of the three Lineage Societies sponsored by KYOWVA providing they can meet the proof and qualification requirements. All applications are available at the KYOWVA GHS Library or a printable universal application form may be downloaded by visiting the "Lineage Societies" link in the Application Forms section of the right sidebar.

The records used for documentation become the property of the KYOWVA Genealogical and History Society and may be viewed at the Society Library.

The yearly application deadline will be December 31st of each year for recognition at a Spring Banquet. If you have any questions, please contact Karen LeGrand at karenllegrand@aol.com.

First Families

First Families of Cabell County will honor and document ancestors and their descendants who lived in Cabell County by 31 December 1809. Only members of the KYOWVA Genealogical and Historical Society may apply for membership in First Families of Cabell County. Applicants must prove descent from an individual living within the boundaries of Cabell County from 31 December 1809.

Settlers and Builders

Settlers and Builders of Cabell County will honor and document ancestors and their descendants who lived in Cabell County by 1 January 1825. Only members of the KYOWVA Genealogical and Historical Society may apply for membership in Settlers and Builders of Cabell County. Applicants must prove descent from an individual living within the boundaries of Cabell County from 1 January 1825.

The Huntingtonian

The Huntingtonian will honor and document ancestors and their descendants who lived in Huntington, West Virginia from 27 February 1871 and prior to 31 December 1910. Only members of the KYOWVA Genealogical and Historical Society may apply for membership in The Huntingtonian. Applicants must prove descent from an individual living within the boundaries of Huntington from 27 February 1871 and prior to 31 December 1910.
